Adult jail and booking questions belong with Louisville Metro Department of Corrections. Its general information office is at 400 South Sixth Street, Louisville, KY 40202, and the phone number is 502-574-8477. For a booking file that is no longer visible, use the LMDC open-records page. Louisville Metro's open-records contact is located at 745 West Main Street, Louisville, KY 40202, phone 502-574-8773.
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is at 515 West Market Street, Suite 110, Louisville, KY 40202-3388. Its main number is 502-574-5400, and its toll-free number is 800-280-6694. Regular office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. The official contact page directs jail questions to LMDC. Choose the source by the kind of information needed:
- For an LMDC booking record or releasable booking photo, begin with the county records and roster instructions, then use LMDC open records if needed.
- For an LMPD arrest report, citation, or incident material, use the department's Open Records page. For a sheriff-created incident or service record, contact JCSO. A warrant's current status must be checked with the court or issuing office.
- For a recent booking, use LMDC's current-inmate portal or the same-day and multi-day lookup pages in the site navigation.
- For release or transfer alerts, use Kentucky VINELink and confirm urgent custody questions with LMDC.
- For court disposition, copies, or case details after booking, use the Jefferson County court page. The Office of Circuit Court Clerk serves the Louis D. Brandeis Hall of Justice at 600 West Jefferson Street and the Jefferson County Judicial Center at 700 West Jefferson Street.
- For a Jeffersontown Police record, use the department's written open-records process. For a St. Matthews Police record, the published records and fingerprints line is 502-899-2537.
- For a sentenced state offender, use the Kentucky Department of Corrections KOOL search; it is not a live county booking roster.
- For federal or immigration custody, consult the official Bureau of Prisons or ICE locator, which cover different systems from LMDC.
